Prevention at the Source: New Garden
Through a ministry home in a restricted access location in South East Asia, The Garden of Hope remains dedicated to leading teenage women, who are victims of poverty and oppression to see the way, the truth, and the life of Christ.
TGOH rescues current victims or those who are at high-risk of sexual exploitation, including domestic abuse or international trafficking. We aim to help prevent teenage women from having to surrender to such destructive lifestyles through the above mentioned means, but ultimately, through knowing the love of Jesus Christ personally and living according to His teaching.
These teenage women, along with three highly dedicated Christian leaders, live together in a home we call the “New Garden” or just the safe house. Through studying, memorizing, and applying the truths of God’s Word, these young women are growing in their Christian faith and are learning to overcome great challenges in life.
Through Christian fellowship, outreach, comfort, counseling, and vocational training, they are preparing for a meaningful future in which they see themselves as precious and chosen of God, rather than as victims of an oppressive or hopeless society. Through interpretive dance and song, they beautifully portray their true spirit of freedom in Christ. We believe that God will use them powerfully to help transform the next generation in their country for the better.
Tawsaeng (Children’s) Center
TawSaeng, the children's ministry project of The Garden of Hope, gives at-risk abused and vulnerable children knowledge, love, education and social development to improve their quality of life and better understand their self-worth, including protection of child-rights based on Christian principles and beliefs.
During the weekday afternoons and evenings, dedicated national staff and international volunteers serve approximately 30 children in a key red-light district who are at risk of many dangers, including sexual exploitation, child labor, poverty and discrimination. Most of these children need help to stay in school and to succeed in life. These children and many more need help in gaining citizenship in the very country they were born in. Without such help, exploitation and discrimination remain constant threats.
TawSaeng center provides for a broad spectrum of holistic needs of the children - physical, emotional, spiritual, educational, relational - through a variety of activities. The children are fed healthy meals, receive quality learning opportunities (including learning English), learn social survival skills and are given an opportunity to play in a safe environment. TawSaeng serves these children in their life situations with their families, who almost all live in slums nearby. This gives us even a greater opportunity to help transform entire communities for God’s glory.
We have developed a separate, expanded website for TawSaeng that will eventually be available in both English and Thai.
